What Are Macronutrients?
Macronutrients — commonly called "macros" — are the three primary nutrients your body requires in relatively large amounts to function: carbohydrates, protein, and fat. Carbohydrates: Your Body's Preferred Fuel
Carbohydrates are the body's most readily used energy source. When you eat them, digestion breaks most carbs down into glucose, which cells use for fuel — especially the brain, which relies almost exclusively on glucose under normal conditions.

Protein: Builder, Repairer, Regulator
Protein is constructed from chains of amino acids — 20 in total, nine of which are essential, meaning the body cannot make them and must obtain them from food. Animal proteins (meat, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy) and soy are considered complete proteins because they supply all nine essential amino acids.
